The goal for all is to help one another know the strengths and areas to possibly improve through open communication.

Establish educational goals and plans

Do you want another set of eyes looking at the goals and plans for your student or for a student in your classroom? Our services look carefully and ensure alignment of student abilities, and where the team wants the student to be in 6 months or a year. The goals must be clear, measurable and aligned with standards.

Implement professional development for districts, parents, and agencies

Research shows that districts are providing one-shot professional development. Special education is a complex system of services and laws which require on-going intensive professional development, using visuals, modeling and practice. Parents deserve open and honest professional development to understand their rights to become advocates for their child. This also takes intensive supports and coaching. Districts and parents should use the same language when working together so both parties have a clear understanding while progressing through the child’s education. It takes a team, but it takes a neutral expert which allows both parties to receive the information in a productive trusting manner.

Administer Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)

At times, parents are of the opinion that the assessment conducted by the district is not quality nor complete. Let the team of experts evaluate the assessment and determine if an IEE is necessary or required. Perhaps the district will add additional assessment subtests to support the concerns a parent might be experiencing. We can guide parents and districts through this process with productive outcomes.

Support with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

Alternative Dispute Resolution – Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is an informal alternative for resolving disputes involving families of students with special needs. This brings together parents, teachers and administrators in an informal setting for the purpose of resolving disagreements. It is a process that encourages all parties to “problem solve” and to achieve a mutually beneficial agreement to best meet the needs of individual students.

Expert testimony during litigation

This team looks at the BIG picture and attempts to resolve disputes at the local level, however, as a last resort, we can provide expert testimony during a Due Process. Dr. Kirk-Martinez has been an expert witness for several Due Processes.
